0 Episode 4 – The New Episode is Here!

  • 10/07

Happy Friday, listeners!

We have a great episode this week! Rather than our usual focus on streaming video, we put a lot more focus on updates to the streaming music world, including Rhapsody’s battle to compete with the popular Spotify, MOG and Rdio, and MySpace’s plans to forge itself into the “Hulu of music”. We also discuss the return of “Arrested Development” as it moves into development, and where you might find it (after we recorded the episode, Hulu also threw its hat into the ring).

We also talk a lot about how we access streaming media, in terms of software, hardware, and preferred sites, which is usually dictated by our software and hardware.

This weekend, we’ll also release the statistics from each Leonard Maltin game, so you can see who reigns supreme in the world of movie trivia, and who needs to step up their game (You may be surprised). So keep an eye out for that.

We’re still working on getting some intro music for the show, but that will go hand-in-hand with our foray into the world of uploading our episodes to iTunes for your accessibility. We will still post bonus tracks on this site exclusively to keep you coming here, but regular episodes will be available for subscription soon!

Until then, check out the new episode!

0 Episode 3 – Extra Leonard Maltin Game – Team Frank’s Return

Are you ready for an extra round of the Leonard Maltin game? This time, Frank’s girlfriend, Cara, decided to step up and represent the team. It’s a long bonus track, but totally worth the listen. (Also, I apologize ahead of time for not being as great of a mixer as Adam and not appropriately adjusting to Cara’s volume. Still a fantastic extra!)

Check out the bonus track on the Episode 3 Page!

0 TH-TH-TH-THREE GUESTS?!?

That’s right! It’s NEW EPISODE DAY and we have a new episode for you. Unfortunately, Adam was unable to attend the episode taping, as it was his dad’s birthday celebration evening (Happy Birthday again, Mr. E!) so I brought AJ back as guest number three in this weird attempt to rehash the original structure for the original episode. For some reason, any time Frank is involved, AJ subs in for someone. We’ll have to track this to see it we can get it to happen again.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I was busy at work this week, in late into the evening and unable to edit the audio too much beforehand, so you’ll get the Mic Check bonus track today at the same time as the new episode. Listen to it before the episode and it’ll be like you were there the whole time.

Check it out!

0 Episode 3 – The Musical Chairs Episode

  • 09/27
  • by Dan Whelan
  • · Bonus Tracks

We are going to have an interesting mix of guests this week! As I’ve already determined, Frank and Dave (@davewheeler) will be appearing on the show, as if to recreate the first episode that never was, and standing in for Adam is week is … AJ?!?

Wait, wait, wait. The first episode was supposed to be Frank, Dave and Adam, but instead it was AJ, Dave and Adam. Now you’re telling me that this week was supposed to be Frank, Dave and Adam, but now it’s Frank, Dave and AJ? It’s like a weird game of musical chairs where we never remove a seat after each round, so someone keeps losing (and apparently Dave, AJ and I are awesome!).

So, you may have noticed that there seems to be a lacking of prominent news stories regarding Streaming Internet Media this week. We’ll still hit a few quick news stories, but nothing that really screams “I need to be discussed by up to four people with different movie and music tastes, coming from fairly similar, all the while diverse backgrounds!” It is because of this that we are going to try to mix things up a bit and work on some reusable segments in case of slow news weeks, like this one. So … stay tuned for a fun and spontaneous episode this week (and I’m gonna shoot for three bonus tracks for this episode to tempt you to stick around until Friday).

If you’re not already following us on Twitter, you can find us at @bufferpodcast, and now you can find the Frank Oz Memorial Studio on Foursquare.com, so, you can check-in on Foursquare when’er you are a guest. (I’m getting more information about it via snail mail in 5 to 7 days)

See you Friday! Watch for bonus tracks!

0 Taping Day Update

So this will make for an interesting episode this week: Adam will not be able to make it, as they are celebrating his dad’s birthday that night (Happy Birthday, Mr. E!), so it’ll be me and THREE GUESTS tonight! I just received word from Frank that he will be here tonight, so that’s exciting, but I have another spot to fill.

Along side Dave (@davewheeler, who made appearances in the first Episode, as well as served as an audience member in the second), and Frank (#stilldoesnthavetwitter), I have sent out invites to AJ (Episode 1), Gina (Episode 2), Katie and Walstead in limerick form, in hopes that one of the four will join us as a third guest for this week.

One thing I will work on is getting AJ and Gina on site simultaneously, as they have blown everyone else out of the water in the Leonard Maltin Game, and I want to see who’d win in that fight … plus Adam.

I’ll update everyone once I know who’ll be the third joining me tonight!

My Limerick Invite:
Adam is unable to co-host tonight,
I’m looking for a third guest, alright?
We tape around 8,
and don’t run too late.
Can someone please come solve my plight?

0 Episode 2 – Bonus Leonard Maltin Game!

Happy Saturday, folks!

I hope everyone enjoyed yesterday’s new episode. It’s awesome to get Gina and Emily playing the Leonard Maltin game, ’cause they’re both incredibly animated (physically & vocally) when they play. Such a competition.

As I promised, and hope to definitely keep on as a tradition, I have a bonus Leonard Maltin game for you, and it’s just as good.

Enjoy!

ALSO!
Next week’s episode will bring back Dave, and we should also have Frank. Gonna call it “Episode 1, Take II”. He’s committed, so make sure to harass him on Facebook about it.

0 OUR FIRST EPISODE!

Thank you for being oh so patient with us as Adam and I worked to get this thing off the ground. We had an awesome first episode with our guests, Dave Wheeler and Alex “AJ” Johnson, as we discussed Pandora’s struggle to remain unique as Spotify and Clear Channel Communications release their own ‘Create Your Own Station’ features, as well as the debacle between Netflix and Starz. We also had enough time to play the Leonard Maltin game (made famous on Doug Benson’s “Doug Loves Movies” podcast).

On top of the episode itself, we will also have some extras for you to check out this weekend (including the mic checks and a bonus round of the Leonard Maltin game)!

Check out the episode!
